Salam and good morning.

It is a privilege and honour to be with you all here at the 13th Convocation Ceremony of the Daffodil International University on this beautiful campus. DIU has made its mark not only within the national boundary but across the global south too with its relentless focus on innovation and making university education an unforgettable lived experience.

Graduates, years of dedication and hard work and the opportunities of this wonderful campus have brought you to this pivotal milestone in your life’s journey. Heartiest congratulations. Each of you must feel proud of this moment of recognition and success. It is your achievement. You have earned it. Rejoice.

But it is very important to also be grateful. The achievement is surely yours but your parents, your teachers, your friends have been the vital support system which enabled your success. Alongside my congratulations to each one of you, I extend my warmest appreciation to all members of the support system, parents, teachers, peers.

We meet at a pivotal moment in the trajectory of Bangladesh. For decades, our national narrative was built on "Resilience"—the incredible ability of our people to survive and grow despite limited resources. Today, our economic foundation is no longer a matter of debate. However, as an economist and social scientist and someone who has observed our economic trajectories closely, I must tell you the statistics we have relied on thus far no longer tell the true nature of our challenge ahead. Bangladesh is at a crossroads. Mere volume is no longer enough. Quality has become central. To escape the middle-income trap, we cannot rely solely on low-cost labor or basic exports. Our future economic strength lies in high-value participation. This requires a workforce that doesn’t just follow instructions but creates solutions through innovations, imaginative engagement and work ethics that resonate with global norms. This is the world that awaits you. It is both your opportunity and your challenge.

I have been following the metrics of your institution with great interest. I am heartened to see DIU’s aggressive growth in research and publication. In many parts of our education system, there is a dangerous decoupling of teaching and research. I am encouraged by the dynamics at play in your university with the focus on Scopus-indexed research, the industry-academia linkages, and the incubation of startups. When faculty and students engage in research that address climate-smart agriculture, fintech for the unbanked, or sustainable urban planning, you are doing more than earning citations. You are building the intellectual capital that will allow you to chart a life of promise and achievements ahead while contributing to our economy against the disruptions of a volatile global economy.

Graduates, you are entering a professional world that is uncertain and demanding. As you step out of this beautiful green campus into the complexities of the real world, I offer you three advice for your journey:

Do not see the degree you win today as a prize. It is a promise that doors can be opened, that new possibilities can be created. Learning does not stop today with the degree. The world today runs on the combination of hard and soft skills. Make yourself both an educated person and a skilled person. The frontiers of skills are continuously evolving. Find your aptitudes. Become the irresistible candidate you deserve to be in whatever area or field life takes you.

Do not be afraid of uncertainty or by failures. Certainty can be boring and not challenge your potential. Read uncertainty differently. As a call to be prepared. Do not become only a problem analyst. Focus on solutions, how to transcend barriers innovatively and with courage. Never stop at failures but always put your energies on restarting. Be ambitious but not in a narrow egoistical way. But in ways you feel fulfilled in life. In harmony with your community and society.

Bangladesh today needs not only brilliant graduates, but also active citizens animated by the values of honesty, integrity and empathy.

Graduates, never settle for short-cuts because ultimately short-cuts only end up shortening the quality and meaningfulness of your lives. Success has to be earned. Fruits of success have to be shared. Engage with social initiatives, however small or big. Never forget the debt you owe to your family, your education, your community, your country, your planet and to the gift of existence.

Parents, your investment in your children is not only your family’s gain but it is a vital contribution to the nation. Your patience, your sacrifices, your encouragement is the other vital half of today’s story. My felicitations to each of you.

Graduates, as tomorrow dawns, remember there are no boundaries to your possibilities. The only boundary you need to be mindful is to your humanity and your responsibility to your community, to your country and to the planet.

আজ থেকে তোমরা আর শুধু শিক্ষার্থী নও। আজ থেকে তোমরা সেই মানুষ, যাদের সিদ্ধান্তে নিজেদের ভবিষ্যৎ গড়ে উঠবে, যাদের কাজে সমাজ এগিয়ে যাবে, আর যাদের হাতে দেশের আগামী দিনের নেতৃত্ব। আজ থেকে তোমরা -

• কর্মজীবনের যাত্রী
• সমাজের অংশীদার
• দেশের ভবিষ্যৎ নির্মাতা

আজ আমি তোমাদের সবাইকে বলতে চাই, এক মুহূর্তের জন্য থামো। চারপাশের করতালি, আনন্দ, উত্তেজনা সবকিছুর বাইরে গিয়ে একবার নিজের ভেতরের মানুষটার দিকে তাকাও, নিজেকে প্রশড়ব করো আমি কি শুধু একটি চাকরি খুঁজবো, নাকি এমন একজন মানুষ হবো, যে নতুন সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করে ড্যাফোডিল ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটি তার গ্র্যাজুয়েটদের কখনো শুধু Job Seeker হিসেবে দেখতে চায়নি। ড্যাফোডিল গড়ে তুলেছে Job Creator।

আজ আমাদের সবচেয়ে বড় শক্তি কোনো ভবন বা অবকাঠামো নয়, আমাদের সবচেয়ে বড় শক্তি হলো আমাদের Alumni। তারা আজ দেশ-বিদেশে কাজ করছে, নেতৃত্ব দিচ্ছে, নিজেদের ভবিষ্যৎ যেমন গড়ছে, তেমনি অন্যের জীবনে সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করছে। আজ আমি গভীর গর্বের সঙ্গে বলতে পারি ড্যাফোডিলের হাজার হাজার গ্র্যাজুয়েট আজ উদ্যোক্তা হিসেবে নিজেদের পরিচয় প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছে। তারা কেবল নিজেরা স্বাবলম্বী হয়নি; তারা সৃষ্টি করেছে হাজার হাজার মানুষের কর্মসংস্থানের সুযোগ। আজ তারা নেতৃত্ব দিচ্ছে আইসিটি, স্টার্টআপ, ম্যানুফ্যাকচারিং, শিক্ষা, সার্ভিস ও ফিনটেক সহ নানা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ খাতে দেশে ও দেশের বাইরে।

তোমরাই প্রমাণ করেছো ড্যাফোডিল থেকে পাশ করা মানে শুধু একটি ডিগ্রি অর্জন নয়। ড্যাফোডিল মানে Capability, Confidence, and Character। এই দর্শন থেকেই আমরা সবসময় একটি বিষয়কে সর্বোচ্চ অগ্রাধিকার দিয়েছি দক্ষতা ও চাকরির বাজার আগে, পাঠ্যবিষয় পরে। কারণ আমরা দৃঢ়ভাবে বিশ্বাস করি, শিক্ষার প্রকৃত সাফল্য তখনই আসে, যখন একজন গ্র্যাজুয়েট আত্মবিশ্বাসের সঙ্গে নিজের অবস্থান তৈরি করতে পারে। সে অবস্থান চাকরির বাজারে হোক কিংবা উদ্যোক্তা হিসেবে নিজের পথ নির্মাণে।

ডিআইইউ এর একাডেমিক দর্শন শুরু থেকেই ছিল স্পষ্ট, দায়িত্বশীল এবং বাস্তবতার সঙ্গে সংযুক্ত। আমরা কখনোই কেবল সাময়িক ট্রেন্ডের পেছনে ছুটে কোনো বিষয় চালু করিনি। বরং প্রতিটি সিদ্ধান্তের আগে দেশীয় ও বৈশ্বিক চাকরির বাজার গভীরভাবে পর্যবেক্ষণ করেছি, গবেষণা করেছি, এবং নিজেদের কাছে একটি মৌলিক প্রশড়ব রেখেছি আগামী পাঁচ থেকে দশ বছরে কর্মক্ষেত্র কী ধরনের দক্ষতা চাইবে? কোন কোন সক্ষমতার প্রয়োজন বাড়বে, আর কোন দক্ষতার অভাবে আজকের তরুণরা পিছিয়ে পড়ার ঝুঁকিতে থাকবে? এই প্রশড়বগুলোর গভীর বিশেষণের ভিত্তিতেই আমাদের পাঠμম, শিক্ষাদর্শন এবং একাডেমিক প্রোগ্রামগুলো ধারাবাহিকভাবে পরিপূর্ণভাবে বিকশিত হয়েছে। এই দূরদর্শী ভাবনা থেকেই আমরা সময়োপযোগী ও ভবিষ্যৎ মুখী প্রোগ্রাম চালু করেছি।

আমাদের লক্ষ্য ছিল একটাই

সমাবতর্নের দিন যেন কোনো গ্র্যাজুয়েটকে এই প্রশড়ব করতে না হয়: “এখন আমি কী করবো?”

এবার কিছু কথা বলি ড্যাফোডিল স্মার্ট সিটির সম্পর্কে। তুমি নিশ্চয়ই লক্ষ্য করেছ যে, ক্লাসরুমের বাইরে জীবনও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। ড্যাফোডিল কেবল একটি ক্যাম্পাস নয় এটি একটি সমন্বিত, পূর্ণাঙ্গ ইকোসিস্টেম। এখানে রয়েছে: মানসম্মত শিক্ষা, উদ্যোক্তা হওয়ার সুযোগ, গবেষণার ক্ষেত্র, খেলাধুলা, সংস্কৃতি, নেতৃত্বগুণের চর্চা, শিল্প ও একাডেমিয়ার সংযোগ, স্টার্টআপ, ভেনচার ক্যাপিটাল ও ইনকিউবেশন সুবিধা। আমাদের উদ্দেশ্য একটাই ছাত্ররা এখানে শুধু পড়াশোনা করবে না; তারা মানুষ হিসেবে, নেতা হিসেবে, পেশাজীবী হিসেবে পূর্ণাঙ্গভাবে গড়ে উঠবে।

প্রিয় Daffodilian আজ থেকে তোমরা শিক্ষিত, দায়িত্বশীল, সমাজের প্রতি মর্যাদাশীল ও দায়বদ্ধ নাগরিক। এবং এখান থেকেই আমি আমার প্রম ও সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কথাটি বলতে চাই সময়কে কখনো অবহেলা কোরো না। সময়ই তোমার জীবনের সবচেয়ে বড় সম্পদ। আজ আমি দুঃখের সঙ্গে লক্ষ্য করি, অনেক মেধাবী তরুণ-তরুণী অমূল্য সময় নষ্ট করছে ঘণ্টার পর ঘণ্টা সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যমে, অপ্রয়োজনীয় বিতর্কে, কে কী বললো, কে কী লিখলো এইসব নিয়ে ব্যস্ত থেকে। মনে রাখো, সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া তোমাকে পরিচিতি এনে দিতে পারে, আবার পিছিয়ে ফেলতেও পারে। সবকিছু নির্ভর করছে তুমি এটিকে নিয়ন্ত্রণ করছো নাকি এটি তোমাকে নিয়ন্ত্রণ করছে। মনে রেখো, সময় কখনো ফিরে আসে না। এক সেকেন্ড নষ্ট মানে তোমার ভবিষ্যৎ থেকে এক সেকেন্ড কমে যাওয়া।

আজ আমি তোমাদের একটাই কথা বলতে চাই, ড্যাফোডিল তোমার সঙ্গে ছিল, আছে এবং থাকবে। তুমি যেখানে যাবে, তোমার পাশে থাকবে DIU Alumni Network। আমরা তোমার পাশে আছি, কারণ তুমি আমাদের গর্ব।

একই সঙ্গে তুমি আমাদের সঙ্গে যুক্ত থাকো, তোমার Network সবসময় আমাদের সঙ্গে যুক্ত থাকুক। তোমার সাফল্যের গল্প দিয়ে পরবর্তী প্রজন্মকে অনুপ্রাণিত করো। কারণ তুমি আমাদের শক্তি। আমাদের এই দেশে সমস্যা আছে অনেক। কিন্ত সুযোগ আছে তার চেয়েও অনেক বেশি। বাংলাদেশের এখন দরকার ইতিবাচক মানসিকতার মানুষ, লক্ষ্যভিত্তিক নেতা, নৈতিকতাবোধ সম্পনড়ব পেশাজীবী, আর সাহসী উদ্যোক্তা। এই নতুন নেতৃত্ব এই পরিবর্তনের হাল ধরবে তোমাদের হাতই।

প্রিয় Daffodilian, তোমাদের সামনে এখন দেশ তাকিয়ে আছে, তোমাদের উপর পরিবার বিশ্বাস রেখেছে, আর বিশ্বও তোমাদের দিকে তাকিয়ে আছে। তুমি এগিয়ে যাও-

• দক্ষ পেশাজীবী হিসেবে
• দায়িত্বশীল নাগরিক হিসেবে
• সাহসী উদ্যোক্তা হিসেবে
• ড্যাফোডিলের গর্ব হিসেবে

মনে রেখো, আল্লাহ আমাদের এই পৃথিবীতে পাঠিয়েছেন কোনো না কোনো উদ্দেশ্যে। নিজেকে জিজ্ঞেস করো আমার জীবনের উদ্দেশ্য কী? আমি সমাজ এবং কমিউনিটির জন্য কী প্রভাব সৃষ্টি করতে পারি? সেই অনুযায়ী তোমার পথ এবং পরিকল্পনা ঠিক করো। নিজের জীবন গড়ো, অন্যের জন্য সুযোগ তৈরি করো, আর বাংলাদেশকে এগিয়ে নাও।

As I stand before you on the occasion of the 13th Convocation of Daffodil International University, I feel proud and privileged to present to you a few important points of great pride and significance in praise of the achievements of the new graduates, sacrifices that the parents/guardians made so far, the help and support of the faculties, the staff, and the Management of DIU; and above all the glorious past, the thriving present, promising future of Daffodil International University. This ceremony is not merely a formal academic exercise; it is a powerful milestone in the lives of our graduates and in the continuing journey of our institution.

As I stand before you on our permanent campus, I am profoundly aware of the tenacity of purpose and the vision of a visionary leader, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, his toil through tests and turbulence, the enthusiasm he infused in his team of dedicated workforce to create this unique, lush green campus where we all have gathered to celebrate the success of our young in the graduating class of 2026. Today, Daffodil International University stands tall in recent global rankings, including the Times Higher Education (THE) and QS World University Rankings. Those rankings are not just about the beauty of the academia we are proud of, but also the pride of the sweat of our researchers. Over the past few years, DIU has seen an exponential growth in Scopus-indexed publications. We are now a research-intensive university ranked as the top of all private university in Bangladesh. Our faculty and students are not just reading textbooks; they are writing the papers that the world is citing. We are solving problems in climate change, public health, and artificial intelligence.

Today, Daffodil International University is a fully digitized university aspiring to lead the country in the AI era of challenges and opportunities. Today, Daffodil International University is the only university in Bangladesh that operates a foreign campus in the UAE. Today, Daffodil International University is leading and growing from strength to strength in industry-academia partnership, creating jobs and opportunities for our graduates and faculty.

Respected Dignitaries, Ladies, and Gentlemen!

Daffodil International University is no longer defined by the limitations that once characterized private higher education in Bangladesh. We are no longer an institution operating from rented spaces within the city. We have become a destination-a comprehensive academic ecosystem and, indeed, a world-class academic village. Dear graduates, you are the most tangible and meaningful outcome of this ecosystem.

With the transformation of the University Grants Commission (UGC) into the Higher Education Commission of Bangladesh, the landscape of higher education in Bangladesh is poised for significant transformation. For many years, our national priority was access—ensuring that students could enter universities and classrooms. Today, that focus has shifted decisively toward quality, relevance, and impact.

At Daffodil International University, we anticipated the new needs to address, the new challenges to face, and the new opportunities to avail of. As an academic who has spent decades examining educational standards, accreditation systems, and institutional quality, I can claim that we do not merely teach; we consciously design futures. Our academic programs have been carefully developed to meet internationally recognized standards, including accreditation frameworks, such as Outcome-Based Curriculum (OBE), BAETE for engineering disciplines, our own Art of Living, and the 360-degree Employability. The hands-on training with these provisions enables our graduates to be well-prepared on a strong foundation to pursue careers successfully, whether in Silicon Valley, in Europe, or at home, contributing to the vision of a “Smart Bangladesh.”

Dear Graduates, as your Vice Chancellor, I have had the pleasure of observing your journey—from your first days as uncertain newcomers to your emergence today as confident and capable graduates. Allow me to share three reflections, drawn from my own experience as an educator and engineer. First, cultivate a growth mindset, recognizing that learning must continue long after graduation in a changing world, and lifelong skill development. Second, never compromise on integrity, for in an age of technology and automation, ethical character remains the most enduring and valuable asset for you. Third, approach your career with an entrepreneurial mindset—be proactive, innovative, and solution-oriented—because every challenge in Bangladesh presents an opportunity to create meaningful impact. Do not forget to take away another set of advice: Make no mistake in your duty to your parents, whose sacrifices and guidance made this achievement possible, and honour them through gratitude, respect, and lifelong care; remain committed to the society in which you were raised; and act as responsible global citizens, working for a sustainable and peaceful world where development is balanced with compassion, justice, and respect for humanity and nature. Remember, you entered this university as students; you leave today as ambassadors of Daffodil International University. Carry the name of this institution with pride, but even more importantly, carry its values with integrity and conviction.

I wish each of you success, glory, fulfilment, and purpose in the years ahead. May you become leaders, innovators, and architects of a better and more just world.

My name is Mst. Swapnil Akter Noh, and it is an honor for me to stand up here today and represent all of you. I stand here not just as a graduate, but as one of you, carrying the same stories, struggles, and dreams.

Congratulations to the graduating class of 2026. Let us have a big round of applause for all of us.

Standing right here, I feel proud. I am grateful to Allah and everyone who has contributed to this journey. I am grateful to our parents - the silent heroes of our lives. Their sacrifices may never appear on our certificates, but they are written in every success we achieve.

I am sincerely thankful to our teachers. Over the past 4 years, you shaped our minds and nurtured our potential with endless patience and dedication. You listened, you guided, and you pushed us forward when we felt lost. You taught us not only how to build careers, but how to build character. You made us believe that we were capable of more.

To my friends - thank you for turning stress into laughter and moments into memories. The long addas in tong, food court, bonomaya, lake sides and sometimes even classrooms. We planned to study, but ended up talking about life, future plans, and who would get married first. Thank you for sharing this journey with me.

My journey at Daffodil International University shaped me beyond my imagination. As a cadet of the Daffodil International University BNCC platoon, I learned discipline, courage, and leadership. I learned how to take responsibility, and how to lead with honesty and respect. Through the Learn and Earn program at DIU, I worked as a student associate at the university’s library, where I learned humility, patience and professionalism.

My university continuously opened doors for me. I was given the opportunity to complete a micro-credential course, which equipped me with industry-relevant skills and practical knowledge aligned with the demands of the modern world. Beyond the classroom, the university played a vital role in my personal and professional growth. Through the GoEdu learning platform, I completed several courses, including courses conducted by our honorable Chairman Sir, focusing on soft skills, hard skills, leadership, communication, and professional ethics. I believe these lessons will guide me throughout my future career.

The university and my department of nutrition and food engineering also arranged numerous seminars and academic programs that helped me connect theory with real-world practice and stay updated in my field.

I was fortunate to complete my internship at the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, gaining hands-on experience with modern technical equipment. I also had the honor of representing my university at the International Conference organized by Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, where our university received great appreciation.

Of course, the journey wasn’t easy at all. There were moments of stress, self-doubt, but I always found my department standing beside me. With their support and my hard work, I was honored to receive the Dean’s List Award twice.

Daffodil International University is a vision. I am indebted to our Chairman Sir and Board of Trustees for having the vision, the management, and the administrative body to create this platform where we could excel. With supportive hall facilities and a nurturing campus environment, our collective efforts define the greatness of this institution. Recognized globally through rankings like the Green Metric and among the private universities in Bangladesh, it prepares us not only for our careers, but for life.

To my fellow graduates. we did it! This moment reminds us that we are stronger than every challenge we faced.

As we step into the next chapters of our lives, remember: Dream bravely. Work honestly. Fall if you must, but always rise with courage. The future belongs to those who believe in themselves even when the path is unclear.
