11th Convocation

On the auspicious occasion of 11th Convocation of Daffodil International University (DIU), I extend my heartfelt felicitations to the graduating students, guardians, faculties, and university authority for their collective endeavor.

Universities play a significant role in creating a knowledge-based and enlightened society. In this backdrop, government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already formulated ‘National Education Policy 2010’ and has enacted ‘Private University Act, 2010’ to make the students globally competent in facing challenges of 21st century and building a prosperous nation. I hope universities would comply with government policies to produce a pool of capable and competent graduates, who would be able to shoulder the responsibility of the country. Universities including Daffodil International University (DIU) should put emphasis on ensuring quality education incorporating state of the art curricula and research, theoretical and practical exposures supported by co-curricular activities.

Convocation is landmark ceremony for the students that formally confers degrees upon graduating students and evaluates overall performance of the institution. I hope the graduates instilled with patriotism and integrity, by using their earned knowledge, would contribute to the peace and progress of our beloved country and its people to transform Bangladesh as ‘Smart Bangladesh’ declared by Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina. I wish them a very bright future.

The 11th Convocation of Daffodil International University at Daffodil Smart City, Birulia, Savar, Dhaka, on March 10, 2024, marks a significant milestone in the relatively short history of this young and thriving seat of higher education. I greet all graduates, parents, students, faculty, and staff.

Guided by the educational philosophy of the greatest Bengali of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Awami League government has consistently prioritized and advanced various measures for the holistic development of the education sector. In the last 15 years, our government achieved numerous successes in tandem with our significant strides. We introduced the 'Private University Act 2010' to bolster education quality within private universities, complemented by the 'Bangladesh Accreditation Council Act 2017' to uphold quality standards across private and public higher education institutions. We created opportunities for higher education by establishing universities in almost every district, including Medical, Textile, Fashion Design, Maritime, Digital, Science and Technology, Aviation and Aerospace, and Agricultural universities in the public and private sectors. All those intensified efforts are made for skill development to achieve full employment in the near future.

Awami League government improved the strategic capacity of the University Grant Commission and strengthened universities' institutional capacity through the 'Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP).’ We have reshaped our higher education, emphasizing academic innovation in pedagogy and research and fostering connections between research centers and universities. A dedicated educational innovation fund bolsters creativity and research endeavors within higher education institutions. The Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) has been pivotal in amplifying our universities’ technical prowess and facilitating connections with international academic and research institutions. Our adopted 'Strategic Plan for Higher Education in Bangladesh: 2017-2031' is a testament to our commitment to globally competitive higher education, emphasizing curriculum refinement, science and technology support, and research and training incentives.

I trust Daffodil International University contributes significantly to our vision of high- quality education and shaping a prosperous "Smart Bangladesh" by 2041. Let's continue to work together to build our thriving future envisioned by the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

am happy to know that the 11th Convocation of Daffodil International University will take place on 10th March 2024 at their permanent campus located in the Daffodil Smart City, Ashulia, Dhaka. This memorable event is the evidence of outstanding accomplishments of the students having support from the university authority, administration and faculty members. I would like to express my sincere congratulations to all the graduating students, their families, teachers, staff and members of Board of Trustees for making this a truly special day, which will be cheered by the graduates through at their entire life.

As we come together to commemorate academic achievements, we must acknowledge the critical role that education plays in our country's development toward a knowledge-based society by the year of 2041. At present, there are 177 public, private and international universities in Bangladesh, a significant increase over the last 15 years. I applaud the present administration for its admirable initiatives to increase access to postsecondary education.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh is committed to assisting universities in achieving qualitative development in their educational programs. I am pleased to acknowledge that this Daffodil International University (DIU) has been diligently working towards academic excellence and is conscientious about its responsibility to all sections of the student community and the nation through the establishment of permanent campus in a beautiful natural landscape.
