9th Convocation

I am pleased to know that the 9th Convocation of Daffodil International University (DIU) is going to take place on January 09, 2022. On this occasion, I convey my best wishes to the graduating students, their parents, faculty members, and the university authorities for the journey which they have completed, hand in hand, in order to make this day successful.

Education is mandatory to meet the challenges of the 21st century. The government of Bangladesh has initiated development programs and strategies to enhance the quality of higher education so that it can cope with the continuous demand for national and global competitiveness. But the global crisis that emerged out of the Covid-19 Pandemic has posed many challenges in the way to our continued progress in the education sector. The government is promoting digital learning (e-learning) using virtual platforms to face the challenges posed by the pandemic. Now we are able to utilize the pandemic experience in advancing the use of technology in education. I hope all the universities, both public and private, will undertake
appropriate initiatives to ensure undisrupted and quality education in the current pandemic situation.

The convocation is an invaluable moment for the graduates, commemorating the arduous journey of their studies. As a result, the graduates step into a new world to tackle challenges with honesty and patriotism. Apart from that, this occasion is also a proud landmark for the university as it celebrates the achievements of the graduates, and assists the institutions to assess and review its overall achievements. I wish that the graduates would utilize their knowledge and skills with devotion, dedication, and diligence. I also wish the
graduating students of DIU with a bright and prosperous future.

I am happy to know that the 9th Convocation of Daffodil International University is being held. On this joyous occasion, I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all the graduating students, their parents, current and ex-students, faculty members, officials, and staff of the university.

In the light of the philosophy of education of the Greatest Bangalee of all times, The Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Awami League Government has brought outstanding changes to the education sector by attaching top priority to this sector in the last 13 years. Our government has relentlessly been working to produce knowledge and tech-savvy human resources by ensuring quality and time-worthy education in the country through nurturing the next generation in the spirit of our War of liberation, moral values, and national heritage. We have taken some significant steps towards expanding access to higher education and enhancing its quality alongside primary, higher secondary, and tertiary education in the country. The number of private universities has increased significantly in the country. Our government has tirelessly been working to ensure higher education facilities to the doorsteps of the people. The scope of education has expanded through the introduction of digital systems in education as a part of our implementation of “DigitalBangladesh” programs, the development of infrastructure, and the establishment of new educational institutions.

Ibelievethateconomicdevelopmentofthecountrydependsoneducationandhumanresourcedevelopment. To this end, the academic innovation fund has been allocated to encourage creativity and promote research at higher education institutions in the country. Bangladesh Research and EducationNetwork (BdREN) has been established to increase the technical skills of the universities and connect foreign universities and research institutes with the local universities. As a result, many students and teachers have got the opportunity to get connected with the international academic communities and information hubs. ‘Private University Act-2010’ has helped develop the quality of education of the private universities.‘Bangladesh Accreditation Council Act-2017’ has been passed to ensure standards of quality in higher education both at the public and private universities in the country.

I hope that Daffodil International University will play an important role to help implement our vision to have quality education at higher institutions, to enhance quality in teaching, learning, and research. I do believe that the students of the university from their respective positions will apply their acquired knowledge, talent, and creativity with patriotism, integrity, and dedication to build a hungry and poverty-free GoldenBangladesh as dreamt by The Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

I wish the 9th Convocation of Daffodil International University a grand success and a bright future for all the graduates.

স্বাধীনতা পরবর্তী সময়ে জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান শিক্ষাকে সর্বাধিক ̧রুত্ব দিয়েছিলেন এবং তাঁর পথ ধরেই বঙ্গবন্ধু তনয়া, গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ সরকারের মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা বাংলাদেশের শিক্ষাব্যবস্থার যে ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তন সাধন করেছেন, তা অনুকরণীয়।

‘শিক্ষা নিয়ে গড়ব দেশ, শেখ হাসিনার বাংলাদেশ’-এ প্রত্যয়কে সামনে নিয়ে শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয় কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। আমরা চাই দেশের সকল পর্যায়ের শিক্ষাব্যবস্থাকে বিশ্বমানে উন্নীত করতে। চতুর্থ শিল্প বিপ্লবের চ ̈ালেঞ্জ মোকাবেলা এবং জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের স্বপ্নের সোনার বাংলাদেশ গড়তে মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা যে রূপকল্প ২০৪১ ঘোষণা করেছেন তা বাস্তবায়ন করতে শিক্ষাব্যবস্থার আমূল পরিবর্তন আনা হচ্ছে। পরিবর্তনশীল বিশ্বের শ্রম বাজারের চাহিদা অনুযায়ী শিক্ষাব্যবস্থাকে ঢেলে সাজানো হচ্ছে। সরকার জ্ঞানভিত্তিক শিক্ষার পরিবর্তে দক্ষতা ও প্রায়োগিক শিক্ষায় ̧রুত্বারোপ করছে। সে লক্ষ ̈ অর্জনে নতুন পাঠ্যক্রম প্রণয়নের কাজ চলমান রয়েছে। শিক্ষাব্যবস্থার সকল পর্যায়ে ̄^চ্ছতা ও জবাবদিহিতা নিশ্চিত করার চেষ্টা করা হচ্ছে। শিক্ষার গুণগত মান বৃদ্ধিতে চেষ্টা অব ̈াহত রয়েছে।

জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের নেত...ত্বে অসীম ত্যাগের বিনিময়ে আমরা পেয়েছি  স্বাধীন সার্বভৌম বাংলাদেশ। আর তাঁরই  কন্যা  জননত্রেী দেশরত্ন শেখ হাসিনার নেত...ত্বে সে বাংলাদেশ আজ এগিয়ে যাচ্ছে অপ্রতিরোধ ̈ গতিতে। বঙ্গবন্ধু কন্যা জননত্রেী শেখ হাসিনা বঙ্গবন্ধুর স্বপ্নের বাস্তবায়নে ২০৪১ সালের উন্নত, সমৃদ্ধ, সুখী ও শান্তিময় বাংলাদেশের যে ̄ স্বপ্ন দেখিয়েছেন তার সফল বাস্তবায়নে ড্যাফোডিল ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটির শিক্ষার্থীরা সততা, আন্তরিকতা, নিষ্ঠা ও কর্মস্পৃহা নিয়ে কাজ করবে এ আমাদের প্রত ̈াশা।

পরিশেষে, সনদপ্রাপ্ত সকল শিক্ষার্থীদের শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়ে ড্যাফোডিল ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটির নবম সমাবর্তনের সর্বাত্মক সাফল ̈ কামনা করছি।

দ্রুত পরিবর্তনশীল বিশ্বে শিক্ষার বৈশ্বিক প্রেক্ষাপট প্রতিনিয়ত পাল্টে যাচ্ছে। প্রযুক্তি নির্ভর এই সময়ের সঙ্গে নিজেদের তাল মিলিয়ে চলতে শিক্ষা বিশেষ করে উচ্চশিক্ষার তথা ত...তীয় পর্যায়ের শিক্ষার কোন বিকল্প নেই।  স্বাধীনতার পরে বঙ্গবন্ধুর দ্বিতীয় বিপ্লব-এর লক্ষ ̈ ও উদ্দেশ ̈ ̧লোর মধে ̈ শিক্ষার সর্বাধিক ̧রুত্ব ছিলো। তাই তো তিনি যুদ্ধপরবর্তী সময়ে দেশে গণমুখী শিক্ষা প্রসারের ক্ষেত্রে সব ধরনের পরিকল্পনা গ্রহণ করেছিলেন। আর সেই ধারাবাহিকতায় শিক্ষাকে উন্নয়নের প্রধান হাতিয়ার হিসেবে ̧রুত্ব দিয়ে বর্তমান সরকার এই খাতে নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। ৪র্থ শিল্প বিপ্লবের এই চলমান যুগে উচ্চশিক্ষাকে বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তিমুখী করার লক্ষে ̈ সাম্প্রতিক কালে ধারাবাহিকভাবে বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পাশাপাশি বিশেষায়িত বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় স্থাপন করা হচ্ছে। রূপকল্প ২০২১ এবং ২০৪১ ও ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশের স্বপ্ন  বাস্তবায়নে দক্ষ গ্র ̈াজুয়েট তৈরিতে শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয় নানামুখী পরিকল্পনা হাতে নিয়েছে। দেশের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোকে ডিজিটালাইজড করার লক্ষে ̈ সকল ধরনের প্রযুক্তিগত পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নের পরিকল্পনা ইতোমধে ̈ গ্রহণ করা হয়েছে।

শিক্ষার সর্বোচ্চ বিদ্যাপীঠ হচ্ছে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় , যেখান থেকে গবেষণা হয় এবং সেই গবেষণার উপর ভিত্তি করে আমাদের জীবনযাত্রার পরিবর্তন ঘটে। গড়ে উঠে শিল্প এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে শিক্ষিত দক্ষ কারিগরেরাই দেশকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যায় আলোকিত ভবিষ ̈তের দিকে। বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তির উন্নতির ফলে বাংলাদেশেও ৪র্থ শিল্প বিপ্লবের সূচনা ঘটেছে; আর এই শিল্পকে আরো জোরদার এবং গতিশীল করার একমাত্র উপায় হচ্ছে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোতে গবেষণা ও উদ্ভাবনমূলক কার্যক্রম  বৃদ্ধির চর্চা করা। সেই সঙ্গে বিশেষায়িত পেশার চাহিদার উপর ভিত্তি করে নতুন বিভাগ খুলতে হবে অথবা কারিকুলামে নতুন কোর্সের সংযুক্তি করতে হবে। নতুবা বহু গ্রাজুয়েট এই অটোমেশনের যুগে কর্মহীন হয়ে থাকবে। এই কর্মযজ্ঞকে আরো গতিশীল করার লক্ষে ̈ সরকার ইতোমধে ̈ নানামুখী উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করেছে।

প্রিয় ডিগ্রীপ্রাপ্ত শিক্ষার্থীবৃন্দ, আপনারা শিক্ষিত তার পরিচয় এই সনদ; এটা ভাবলে ভুল হবে। দেশের প্রতি, জনগনের প্রতি এবং আপনার পরিবারের প্রতি আপনাদের দায়বদ্ধতা বরং আরো বেড়ে গেলো। শিক্ষাক্ষেত্র আর কর্মক্ষেত্র কখনই এক পরিবেশ নয়। কর্মক্ষেত্রে শিক্ষার পাশাপাশি একজন সৎ উদ্যমী মানুষ বড্ড প্রয়োজন। আমি ডিগ্রী সনদপ্রাপ্ত সকল শিক্ষার্থীদের শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়ে ড্যাফোডিল ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটির নবম সমাবর্তনের সর্বাত্মক সাফল ̈ কামনা করছি।

I am delighted to know that Daffodil International University is organizing its 9th Convocation on 09 January 2022. On this auspicious occasion, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the graduating students and their parents, faculty, university staff, members of the Board of Trustees, and all concerned.

The goal of our government is to transform Bangladesh into a knowledge-based society and a developed country by 2041. Education is one of the most powerful and proven vehicles for sustainable development. Already Bangladesh has become a role model for other countries by ensuring primary and secondary education rights for every child of Bangladesh. We have also extended the scope of higher education by setting up public universities in almost all the districts. The number of public, private, and specialized universities has significantly increased in the last two decades and a half. UGC, from its inception in 1972, facilitated the universities to upgrade their quality of education through creating the scope of cutting-edge innovative research, collaboration, and funding. Private University Act -2010 and Bangladesh AccreditationCouncil Act -2017 have been passed to ensure the standards of higher education.

Despite the backlash of the Covid -19 pandemic, Bangladesh is considered one of the fastest growing economies in the world. I am confident that the invaluable experience of taking education further nationally amidst the pandemic will be helpful for implementing our program of “Digital Bangladesh” sooner rather than later. The highest ever per capita income of our country has reached 2227 US dollars. Our success in achieving MDGs and some SDG targets is now recognized throughout the world. Now it is your turn to
continue the process by completely eradicating hunger, poverty, illiteracy, and intolerance from our society with technological innovation and farsighted planning with the deepest compassion for your countrymen.

You are the future leaders who will soon build the ‘Shonar Bangla’ as dreamt by our Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

With these hopes, I wish the Convocation a grand success.

Thank you for inviting me to be the Convocation Speaker of the 9th Convocation of Daffodil International University.

I am eagerly waiting to come and see you. I am thrilled and excited about visiting your beautiful country and the green campus of Daffodil International University.

Convocation is an important event in the life of graduating students. The knowledge and skills students have acquired from this university will certainly help them to build their careers and contribute to the progress of Bangladesh. We will all strive to make this world a better place for peaceful living.

Dear friends, I am thankful to the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the Chancellor of Daffodil International University, His Excellency Mohammad Abdul Hamid in addition, I am thankful to the founder of Daffodil International University Dr. Md. Sabur Khan for inviting me.

I would like to recall a few lines from a Bangali poem of Kazi Nazrul Islam, on this auspicious occasion:

“বল বীর,
বল উন্নত মম শির!
শির নেহারি আমারি নতশির
ওই শিখর হিমাদ্রির!’’

It is indeed a great day for Daffodil International University - 9th January 2022 – when we hold the 9thConvocation, much awaited, was unexpectedly delayed by the pandemic. The Convocation is not just a day or event, it is an important occasion when we revisit the milestone achievements of our students, teachers, and the overall management staff. I am sure this graduation ceremony would be a memorable event for all of them. With this event, we will celebrate the glory of our success, and commemorate the past achievements to get inspiration for the future. At this very happy moment, I congratulate all the graduating students as well as their parents and teachers.

TheworldhasjustwitnessedtheCOVIDCrisiswhichhascausedunprecedenteddisruptionandfundamental changes in the education systems. In this most disruptive situation, Daffodil InternationalUniversity has catalyzed innovation in education systems and ensured the total digital transformation of its academic systems. During the pandemic situation, Daffodil International University kept the activities uninterrupted by adopting technology and utilizing mechanisms. From day one, the students attended online classes. DIU teachers, students, and management adapted the Smart Edu Systems, BlendedLearning Center (BLC) so that students can learn in their preferred mode. We introduced TeachingApprentice Fellowship Program (TAF); added 50 new modules in Smart Edu to ensure complete systematic operation; incorporated Mentoring Management Systems so that students get proper guidance until they enter the job market; added AI-based dropout modules so that student's performance and the reasons for the absenteeism from the class can be tracked. Accordingly, the university and its graduates developed different innovative solutions which have demand in at this time.

Today, we are focusing on outcome-based education considering the present demand of the industry and future job skills. Also, we are bringing dynamic changes in the learning environment, transforming the campus into a total learning zone which is the demand of the ‘Z Generation’. All these major decisions were taken considering the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and beyond.

In the end, my hearty congratulations to all the Daffodilians, especially, the Graduating students, and I wish them all a great future ahead.

My heartiest congratulations to the 9th graduating class of Daffodil International University on the 9th of January 2022. This convocation not only implies the success and accomplishments of the graduating students but also marks an important landmark in the history of this institution, especially for praiseworthy endeavors to cope well with the new demands of the new normal that emerged from the global crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic for about two years. It is a time for reflection, for revitalizing our commitment to the future of our country and of the following generations. This historic event marks an end and beginning - an opportunity to push back the limitations and set sights on higher goals.

I am very happy to be a part of the ceremony that recognizes the achievement of the students. While congratulating the graduates, I would also like to congratulate the teachers, administration, and members of the Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University for supporting each graduate on the way to achieving success. I would like to thank the Convener of the Convocation Ceremony and all those who have worked relentlessly day and night to organize the convocation ceremony that we are hosting today.

In line with Vision 2022 and Digital Bangladesh, most of the academic and administrative activities of the university have been digitized and the university has emerged as a prominent ICT-oriented university of the country. DIU has set up innovation labs with a view to equipping the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to face the challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Students are provided with on-campus internet and WiFi facilities, free laptops, campus TV, and campus radio programs for grooming them up to
face the challenges of real life. A very rich website helps the university earn excellent rankings from several organizations, including Webometrics.

I felicitate the graduates once again for their successful completion of the academic programs and their parents on the glorious achievements of their wards. Further, I convey my deepest appreciation to the respected teachers and the management of the university for their sincere efforts in equipping the graduates with high standards of education during their time at the university.

On this festive occasion, I gratefully acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the Board of Trustees of the university, especially Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of the Board, for his visionary leadership and continuous support for quality education and research in the university amidst the chaotic crisis all over the world, emerged out of the pandemic.

I would also like to thank our distinguished international and local guests and dignitaries for gracing the ceremony and encouraging our students. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Honorable EducationMinister Dr. Dipu Moni, M.P. for gracing the occasion by representing the Honorable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the Chancellor of the university, and the official Chairperson of the convocation.

Although we must remain vigilant and maintain the health and safety measures to keep each other safe amidst the Covid-19 health hazards, it’s a matter of utmost pleasure to see DIU back to life on campus. You all belong to different parts of Bangladesh and have gathered here today during this unprecedented time of the pandemic for the significant achievement of your life. We understand that graduation day exhibits the heightened emotions and is a good cause for celebration for you, your family, faculty members, and the
loved ones whose care, guidance, and support helped you reach here.

It is needless to state that we need to celebrate how you, the students, have kept our spirit high during the most challenging times over the last 18 months crippled by the pandemic. We feel proud of you for reaching this far. Once again, Congratulations to the graduates.

We believe that you have prepared yourself for what comes next in your life with the knowledge and understanding you have gained along with the resilient experience you have had together with us since March 2020. We are confident that we could keep our promise of giving you a congenial academic atmosphere even during troubled times through our online teaching activities using blended learning platform(s), resilience and positive mindset of everyone involved, and the management support during the past year and a half.

As DIU is well known for preparing graduates for job readiness and providing you all with the state of art facilities, soft skills, and graduate attributes necessary for the job market, we anticipate your successful entrepreneurial venture and/or career. At DIU, we provide each student with a laptop and offer unique courses such as “Art of Living” and “Employability 360” believing that you will gather an understanding of lifelong learning and job market readiness.

Therefore, we believe that as the ambassadors of DIU, you will tread the uncharted path to success and make the world a better place to live in.

And, always keep in mind that DIU is a part of your extended family and we would like to hear back from you.
