Today, as we gather for the 11th Convocation of this esteemed institution, I am filled with immense admiration for the strides Bangladeshi private universities have made both at home and on the international stage. Among these shining examples, Daffodil International University has emerged as a beacon of excellence, contributing significantly to the enrichment of our education system—a fact vividly illustrated by the local and global successes of its alumni.

While we applaud the government's substantial investment in public universities, it is crucial to also recognize the relentless perseverance and dedication of private university entrepreneurs around the world. These visionaries have navigated many challenges - from legal hurdles and land acquisition to the monumental tasks of infrastructure development, faculty recruitment, and pioneering research initiatives. Their unwavering commitment has not only elevated educational standards but also extended lifelines of opportunity to underprivileged scholars through generous scholarship programs, embodying a true commitment to societal upliftment.

The achievements of private university entrepreneurs in Bangladesh are noteworthy. Through their intelligence and hard work, they have propelled their institutions to a level that sets a benchmark for the country and the education sector. Private universities offer opportunities for cross-cultural education by facilitating student and faculty exchange programs and the concept of a Global Village is becoming more accessible through private universities, enhancing Bangladesh's brand value internationally. In recent years, according to reports, some private universities, including Daffodil, have progressed in international standards and rankings, even surpassing many public universities.

The government and policymakers must continue to nurture this sector by offering Ph.D. opportunities, fostering research, and creating more avenues for funding. In an era where the mobility of students is greater than ever, it is crucial to ensure that bright minds find compelling reasons to pursue their academic and professional aspirations within Bangladesh. Bangladesh must nurture its sense of belonging and pride in the national education system to prevent a brain drain that could significantly impact the nation's progress and economic vitality. Before I proceed, I would like to highlight several remarkable achievements that make this day even more special for all of us gathered here today.

1. Firstly, I am proud to announce that we have a plethora of successful alumni who are excelling in leading industries both at home and abroad. Their accomplishments serve as a testament to the quality education and training they received here at our institution.

Moreover, we have successfully organized and celebrated events such as the Job Utshob (UNDP) and Graduate Placement Day, regular job placement events at the campus by the local and international organizations which have provided invaluable opportunities for our graduates to secure meaningful employment opportunities. It proves that our graduates have created a demand in the job market.
4. Additionally, our institution boasts the highest number of industry linkages, enabling our students to connect with industry leaders and gain real-world insights and experiences.

Honorable Chairman of the 11th Convocation of Daffodil International University, Distinguished Convocation Speaker, Special Guests, Dignitaries, Graduating Students, Parents, Guardians, Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen, As-SalamoAlaiqum and a very good afternoon to you all.

We begin with an acknowledgment of the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs, who laid their lives to protect our mother tongue, Bangla, on the 21st of February in 1952. Let me remember the millions of Freedom Fighters who made the ultimate sacrifice for Independence of Bangladesh in 1971. Let me also remember the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who was brutally murdered along with his family members and near relatives in the dark night of the 15th August,1975. May the souls of the martyred heroes of the nation rest in eternal peace!

Dear Graduating Students

It is a joy for us to celebrate your accomplishments. I am proud to acknowledge that your diligence and hard work have paid off in success. I know, your early days in the university were shy and shaky. But during the last four or five years, you have made it through the twists, turns and turmoil of the course works, class tests, assignments, projects, presentations, periodical and final examinations to this glorious moment of graduation ceremony today. Congratulations! Many congratulations! Indeed.

You've passed through significant changes in your university experience during the past years. It was at first difficult for you to fully benefit from campus life because you could not interact with faculty members and friends to participate in campus activities. You will never forget the difficult days of the Covid-19 pandemic. Now you are members of an elite group of university students who have successfully navigated through uncertainty, have demonstrated resilience and can adapt to changing circumstances. You continued working hard with focus on your academic achievements and accomplishing all that was required of you.

Rightly, there is great joy for us in celebrating your success today as university graduates. It is a time of passing through to the next stage of life full of hope and possibility. Now is the time, we should remind ourselves: what university education is for and why universities are such important institutions.

A nation's human resources are its most important reserve. The knowledge, skills, and attitude of its people are indispensable for socio-economic development and national wellbeing. Every nation requires trained and honest professionals, innovators and entrepreneurs. Daffodil International University made all efforts to provide faculty acclaimed nationally and internationally, appropriate facilities, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, international exchange programs and many more in a lush green campus with peace and tranquility.

We need people who can think critically and creatively. We hope and believe that you will be team builders, consensus-builders, action-motivators, leaders, and entrepreneurs. We require people who are self-driven and compassionate with the drive to succeed and support the success of others. I believe your time at DIU has helped you hone these skills and abilities. You now have a strong foundation for success. You know you have the capacity to overcome future obstacles. As Daffodilians, it is your responsibility to live up to the expectations placed in you by our nation’s prudent leadership. You have a chance to make history. All the best all the way. Your education is not over yet. Your graduation marks a fresh start. You still have a lot to accomplish. The world you are entering is very different from what you anticipated before. After all learning is self-learning and life-long learning.

I would like to speak on behalf of the university to appreciate everyone who has helped you along the way of your university journey. We are also appreciative of the leadership of this great seat of learning, specially, the Board of Trustees of the university and its visionary Chairman, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, for inspiration and wisdom. We do appreciate the supports of your parents, your guardians, the members of our faculty, staff, counsellors, coaches, and friends. All these people supported you in getting to where you are today. We are indebted to them.

We also hope that you would provide the assistance to those who follow you. Soon you will be the alumni of DIU, a group of about 50,000 people, who over the course of the previous 21 years, have made significant contributions to the growth of the nation via their illustrious professions and selfless dedication, both in the workplace and in the community. They also have made their marks in professions and positions in different countries of the world. You will represent the university in the world as members of this alumni group. Our reputation will be preserved by your success. Your DIU family will always be by your side, no matter what and where you are.

As you have fulfilled all conditions set forth by the university for this award, your academic authorities have recommended that you be awarded a degree. It is a great honor for me to acknowledge and admire the award to each of you together with the rights, benefits, and obligations that go along with it. Once again, Congratulations! Assalamu alaikum, and welcome everyone to the 11th Convocation of Daffodil International University. I, Md. Meherabul Haque, am truly honored to represent all of you on this auspicious occasion. To begin my speech, I would like to thank our parents and family members for their unwavering support throughout this journey. Without their sacrifice, determination, and sleepless nights, many of us might not have been here.

I still remember it being back in the morning of June 2019. On that day, I did not even imagine that I would be here and talking to you as the valedictorian speaker of our class. We all have our own stories and struggles to share. And the past four years of graduation are not different at all. On the same note, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to our teachers, administrative officers, support staff, and overall DIU management for guiding us and easing our journey from our first day in the classroom to this graduation ceremony.

I guess we all have been through the unusual times of the COVID pandemic when we had to confine ourselves to our homes and get engaged in our classes online. We were introduced to a new era of learning that is now being blended with artificial intelligence. DIU was prepared ahead of time and we started our classes within a week. Without the support and help of our friends during that time, it might have been like sailing a ship in a deadly storm.

I am also thankful to my beloved university for its mesmerizing green campus, which helped me to become who I am today. I found my friends, teachers, and the educational environment around this campus. Here, I met local and international students. Later, international exchange programs helped me understand the nature of the true internationalization of DIU. DIU is a university that encourages networking among its alumni. I have always been amazed by our alumni, and their success stories have inspired me to become a future ambassador of my DIU family

Last but not least, I can see the glimmering faces of all my fellow friends beaming with joy. Of course, convocation is such a special day for all of us. And amidst these happy faces, one face is missing. Even a week ago, Tushar Hawlader, one of our beloved friends and mates, was excited for this day, just like all of us. A tragic fire on Bailey Road may have taken his life, but his smiling face will always remain in our hearts. On behalf of the class of 2024, I am deeply mourning the untimely loss of Tushar Hawladar, a proud alumnus of this university.

Before concluding my speech, I want to thank the chief guest, keynote speaker, and all the honorable guests for their gracious presence at the 11th Convocation of DIU and for making this event memorable.
